Irene trained at LAMDA and is a very experienced actress with many theatre/television and film credits.
Her early years saw her playing in such regional theatres as Nottingham Playhouse Perth Theatre, Cheltenham Everyman York and Colchester . She did her stint of touring for The Arts Councils production of Peer Gynt playing The Green Woman and Anitra. She also played the daughter of Esmond Knight in an NC Hunter play A Piece of Silver which went on National tour. In the Foco Novo production of Drums in the Night by Bertolt Brecht she played the part of Marie a night club singer, at the Traverse Theatre Edinburgh and Hampstead Theatre. She played opposite Daniel Massey as the medic to Sir Lytton Strachey in the West End production of Bloomsbury at the Phoenix Theatre.
She has played many roles for television including several of The Avengers/Z Cars/Softly Task Force and a long run in the BBC television series of United playing the character Iris Murdoch. She featured in the film Doctor Jekyll and Sister Hyde for Hammer House of Horror. Sky West and Crooked, The "Bargee" and Oliver.
After a long departure into teaching voice and drama in many of the leading drama schools (The Actors Centre and The City Lit) she returned to an acting career. Last year she filmed in Poland playing Martha in the Tigergoat production of Fanny Hill, as well as a pilot for a new comedy series Away Days for the BBC and an online teaching programme for the French Language called Hope Towers playing Mary Brown for Illumini Digital.
