Richard O’Brien’s Pig In Boots

On December 4th 2008 the Wireless Theatre Company presented the World Première of Richard O’Brien’s PIG IN BOOTS to a sell-out audience at the Headliners Comedy Club Chiswick.
Richard O’Brien’s all-new script; a dark subversive take on the traditional Christmas pantomime, tells the tale of Tom Tom, the piper’s son. After listening to a magic kettle, Tom Tom sets on a dangerous path to fame and fortune with the aid of Pasty Pig, as they are both forced to go on the run from the villainous Squire Braggett and the homicidal Butcher With A Very Sharp Knife.
Directed by Mariele Runacre Temple, Produced by Fran Kirkham and featuring a cast of 9 performers, live sound effects and original music composed and performed by James McQuillan - for one night only the Headliners Comedy club took the sell-out audience on an exciting journey to the world of Panto-oppolis.
Originally written for stage, Richard O’ Brien, creator of the cult-smash The Rocky Horror Show, approached the Wireless Theatre Company’s Artistic Director Mariele Runacre Temple with the idea of making it an audio production, which in turn could help showcase new acting talent. However, it was then taken on stage further, and PIG IN BOOTS was adapted to be performed on stage, in front of a live audience.
Richard O’Brien introduced the production himself through a video interview recorded in advance, as he was unable to attend the show in person, wishing the cast and crew all the best.
The production, which received a rapturous response from the audience,  is available to download now.
Have a Wireless Christmas this year!
